A Visitation
Just making zucchini bread and listening to the blues
when who knocks of my door but my favorite recluse
Harper she came all the way from the south
to give me some cheer from her very own mouth
The writing life’s hard, don’t let them tell you it’s not
but write all the time, even when it’s too hot.
Ignore all the fools who don’t like your stuff
they don’t know you at all, so walk off in a huff.
You’re doing just fine with the words that you have
the more that you write, the more you can laugh.
